Project Description

Mr. Rappa came to Rosie’s Creative to design a high-quality poster for his milestone birthday celebration. He wanted the feel of a concert poster, with a particular color scheme suited to the party’s special guest band and theme. We needed to create something fairly high concept, but easily relatable and with information easy to find and read. The goal was to ensure not just a fun party design, but something classic that might be worth framing and hanging on a memory wall.

From a design standpoint, our primary goal was to evoke the feeling of a concert poster for the band, as the client requested. We chose a guitar silhouette with a moon over the sea in shades of blue calling out the band’s name and overall aesthetic. The background was created to evoke water as well, in a more tropical blue with water-like ripples. Colors were selected to echo the concert poster feel and anchor everything in the range of nautical blues requested. The font choice was made specifically to highlight the concert feel, with the band name in a font reminiscent of NASA to underscore the relationship with astral bodies.
